THT Poland 2018
About the Project
On March 1-2, 2018, the fifth edition of the THT Poland 2018 international conference was held in Warsaw (Transcatheter Heart Team Conference 2018), which is the most important event devoted to structural heart defects in the region of Central and Eastern Europe. The main idea of the event was creating a place to exchange experiences and educate members of heart teams, as well as to present the latest scientific reports and technological achievements in this field. Every year, over 300 participants take part in the meeting, including the most outstanding operators, clinical specialists and health care experts from CEE.
The main topics discussed during the 5th THT 2018 jubilee conference were:- Transcatheter Heart Valve Implantation – treatment of aortic, mitral and pulmonary valves
- Transcatheter Heart Valve Repair – treatment of aortic, mitral and pulmonary valves
- Left Atrial Appendage Occlusion – stroke prevention in atrial fibrillation
- Interventional Heart Failure Therapy – latest achievements in circulatory support
One of the most important elements of the event was the system session "Availability of new technologies in the treatment of valvular heart disease in Poland", attended by representatives of the Ministry of Health, National Health Fund, Agency for Health Technology Assessment and Tariff System and well-known clinical experts.
The Directors of THT Poland 2018 conference were prof. Adam Witkowski MD PhD (President Elect of the Polish Cardiac Society, co-coordinator of “Stawka to życie. Zastawka to życie” campaign, Head of Department of Interventional Cardiology and Angiology, Institute of Cardiology, Warsaw) prof. Andrzej Ochała MD PhD (Head of Interventional Cardiology Department, University of Silesia, Katowice), Maciej Dąbrowski MD PhD (Institute of Cardiology, Warsaw) and Radosław Parma MD PhD (Medical University of Silesia, Katowice).
Honorary patronage over the fifth edition of the event was taken by 11 public institutions: Speaker of the Senate of the Republic of Poland, Marshal of the Mazowieckie Voivodeship, Senate Health Committee, National Health Fund, National Institute of Public Health - National Institute of Hygiene, National Institute for Senior Management, President of Warsaw, Economic Forum/The Eastern Institute, Polish Chamber of Healthcare IT and “We Patients” Foundation.
