The first European treatment of ASD using a mixed reality
About the Project
On March 29, 2018, Eleven Zett Productions participated in the first real time European treatment of atrial septal defect using HoloLens technology. This unprecedented event took place in the 2nd Department of Cardiology and Cardiovascular Interventions, University Hospital, Krakow, and the operator was prof. Dariusz Dudek MD PhD. The revolutionary method allows you to combine images in 2D and 3D technology and build a digital reconstruction of the patient's heart, thereby accurately planning operations based on the received hologram. Innovation also allows you to connect simultaneously with other centers, which was used that day too. During the surgery, prof. Dudek contacted the Intercard Cardiology Center in Nowy Sącz to jointly consult the case.
The creators of HoloLens goggles and accompanying software are engineers from MedApp, a Krakow company cooperating with the world's largest IT giants, including Microsoft. The famous Bill Gates’ company is devoting to Polish innovators from Krakow even their own film production with distribution all over the world.
After the surgery, the operating team and representatives of MedApp took part in a press conference during which they talked about innovative technology and its practical potential. Journalists could also test the HoloLens goggles by themselves, trying them in the first Polish showroom.
